Press Release - Sexual Assault Arrest

Below is a press release from Milton Police Lieutenant John Conger from December 22, 2012 about an arrest.



Tonight our agency arrested Scott J. Wagner, 17, on two counts of First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. Mr. Wagner resides at 732 Rivendell Drive, Milton. 

The arrests were the result of ongoing investigations involving two different victims. Both victims were females and 14 years of age. Both victims stated that the assaults were non-consensual. 

Mr. Wagner was transported to the Rock County Jail where he will be held on the charges until he appears in Rock County Circuit Court on Sunday.

Press Release - Adopt-A-Grandparent

Below is a press release from Milton Police Lieutenant John Conger about the Adopt-A-Grandparent program released on December 24, 2012.



Tomorrow our agency will be delivering gifts to the over 60 residents of our assisted living centers in Milton. The gifts are the result of our Adopt-A-Grandparent program. We partnered with local Mary Kay consultant Michelle Klietz in the program that raised over $700.00. Each resident will receive a Mary Kay product, and Ms. Klietz generously donated all of her profits to our Crime Prevention Fund. 

We will visit Milton Senior Living at Noon during their lunch to present the gifts to their 50 residents. We will then visit the Heartwarming House shortly thereafter to deliver their gifts. 

Due to the community’s generosity and participation in this program, we are also able to provide some food and cookies for the staff working at these homes during the Holidays. 

Thank you again to all that participated. You will help bring some joy to those that can’t actually be with family on Christmas.

Milton City Hall Offices and Library Closed 12/20/2012

Due to forecasted blizzard like conditions anticipated for tomorrow, Mayor Chesmore has authorized that City Hall and the Public Library will be closed all day on Thursday, Dec. 20th, 2012.  Offices are scheduled to be re-open for regularly scheduled hours on Friday, Dec. 21st, 2012.  Thank you for your patience and please listen to any and all warnings related to road conditions and requests to limit travel to only that is which is absolutely essential.

Press Release - "Threat" Rumors at Milton High School

Below is a press release from the City of Milton Police Department and the School District of Milton.



This is a joint press release being issued by the City of Milton Police Department and the School District of Milton.

The Milton Police Department and the School District of Milton were made aware yesterday afternoon of a rumor that was beginning to be circulated at the school that a student(s) had threatened to bring a firearm to school this upcoming Friday. As expected, we have been contacted by many rightfully concerned students and parents regarding this rumor. The rumor of a threat has been thoroughly investigated by the police department and district officials and has not been substantiated in any way. To be clear, there is no evidence of any threat being made, and it was simply a rumor. 

We are very cognizant of the concerned environment that we are living in following the tragedy in Connecticut. We encourage all people with any information regarding any potential threat to come forward, and we assure you, it will be investigated thoroughly. 

To reiterate; Our investigation to this point has not only concluded that there is no credible threat, but that no threat was ever made, and it was purely rumor. 

Therefore, we have no reason to believe that it would be unsafe for you to send your children to school on Friday. 

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the City of Milton Police Department, or Milton School District Administration. As always, we take the safety and security of the children in our schools very seriously, and will always be swift and responsive to information that we receive that may threaten our learning environments.

Community Development Block Grant - Rehabilitation Loans Available!

The City of Milton is accepting applications from City of Milton residents for loans to fund the rehabilitation of their home. These loans are provided to residents on a first come first serve basis until all available funds are exhausted. The loans are available to residents that meet the moderate household income listed on the City's website.

Tax Bills are in the Mail

All City of Milton tax bills went out in the mail today. Enclosed with your tax bill is:

First installment payments are due by January 31, 2013 at Milton City Hall.  Regular office hours at City Hall are Monday - Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Payments can be placed in the payment drop box located in front of the Shaw Municipal Building, 430 E. High Street.  If you drop your payment in the drop box or mail it, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope if you would like a receipt.
