Goodrich Square Splash Park Week - March 18 - 24, 2012
Mayor Thomas H. Chesmore declared March 18 – 24, 2012 as Goodrich Square Splash Park Week. During this week, the Goodrich Square Steering Committee will be pushing fundraising efforts and contacting businesses about donations.
Donations can be sent to the City of Milton, 430 E. High Street, Suite 3, Milton, WI 53563. Donation forms are available on the City’s website (www.ci.milton.wi.us) under “Popular City Links” on the homepage. Donations can also be made online through the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin on their website (www.cfsw.org). Those who make at least a $5 donation during the week will receive a free 2011 Milton Independence Day t-shirt. Donations over $100 will be acknowledged on a recognition board at the Goodrich Square Splash Park. Donations are tax deductible to the maximum extent allowed by law. Make checks payable to the Goodrich Square Splash Park Fund.
The Goodrich Square Splash Park Week will culminate with the Goodrich Square Yearbook Dance on March 24, 2012 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at The Gathering Place, 715 Campus Street, Milton, WI. The cost is $20 per person, or $35 per couple. All proceeds from the dance will go to the Goodrich Square Splash Park.
The Goodrich Square Yearbook Dance is a 21+, semi-formal dance event where everyone is encouraged to come as they were in high school or as they are today. Wear semi-formal attire from today, or from when you were in high school. An eclectic mix of hits from the decades will be played.
The event will feature a silent auction from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.; a “Guess Who” contest based on yearbook pictures; and prizes for Best Dressed, Cutest Couple, and Most Goodrich Square Spirit. Appetizers and a cash bar with beer, wine, and soda will be available.
Tickets can be purchased at City Hall (430 E. High Street), the MACCIT office (819 E. High Street), The Gathering Place (715 Campus Street), and the Milton House (18 S. Janesville Street). Payments can also be mailed to City Hall and tickets will be held at the door for pick up. Tickets will also be available at the door. Make checks for tickets payable to the Goodrich Square Steering Committee.
At their regularly scheduled March 6, 2012 meeting, the Milton City Council authorized that the Splash Pad park project move forward to phase 3, which includes taking the project from design documents to construction documents and sending them out for bid. The City’s consultants at SAA Design Group are currently developing construction documents and preparing them for bid. The Goodrich Square Steering Committee thanks all those groups who have supported and continue to support this project as we work to make this park amenity become a reality in the City of Milton. Come join us and show your support for this exciting project by attending the dance, or making a donation to the project during Goodrich Square Splash Park Week.
