Cross Connection Control Program Information

The City of Milton is in the process of implementing the Cross Connection Control Program through the City’s Public Water Utility. The purpose of the program is to help eliminate possible contamination of the public water distribution system. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources requires all public water utilities to implement this type of program and requires a survey of every facility connected to the public water supply.

The City of Milton has contracted with Hydro Designs, Inc. to conduct the surveys of the commercial and industrial properties and train the City’s water operators to conduct inspections on residential properties. There are no fees for the inspection; however, any costs associated with the replacement, modification, installation, and / or testing of backflow prevention assemblies is the responsibility of the property owner / manager.  Hydro Designs, Inc. will not conduct all inspections at once. The inspections will be done over the course of the next few years. Some commercial and industrial properties may be inspected on a more frequent basis than other properties due to their type of business or depending on what is found during the inspection.

The City of Milton will be hosting a question and answer forum with representatives from Hydro Designs, Inc. on December 5, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers located on the lower level of the Shaw Municipal Center, 430 E. High Street. During this time, attendees can ask questions about the Cross Connection Control Program. This forum will be geared more toward commercial and industrial customers, but residential customers are welcome to attend.

If you have any questions, please contact Hydro Designs, Inc. at 800-315-4305 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
