Update - STH 26 Bypass Project
Below is an update on the State Highway 26 Bypass Project dated Wednesday, September 26, 2012.
Good afternoon,
Today we have some great news to report on the State Highway 26 Project, between County Highway Y and Townline Road. On Friday at 5:00 P.M. (3 days ahead of schedule), our crews will be opening the New Harmony Town Hall Interchange on State Highway 26. This also includes the New Townline Road overpass just north of Harmony Town Hall. After the opening, you will be able to access Townline Road by using the Interchange and traveling northwest through the roundabouts to the intersection of Townline Road. The new interchange features bike / pedestrian accommodations and street lighting.
To the south, crews are busy constructing the new frontage roads between County Highway Y and Woodcrest Drive. The placement of the new concrete curb and gutter for the frontage roads will start in early October. This work will continue for another month. Please slow down through this area, as many travelers need to access all of the businesses in the area. Please follow all of the traffic signs at the Woodcrest Drive splitter island. A left turn from Woodcrest to State Highway 26 southbound is prohibited and dangerous.
As always, we appreciate your patience during construction. Please slow down and drive cautiously. If you have any questions or need any clarifications on the upcoming changes, please feel free to contact the State Highway 26 project staff at our project field office.

Press Release - Lunch with a Cop
Today is the first "Lunch With A Cop" at Northside Intermediate School. Below is a press release from Milton Police Lieutenant John Conger that was released yesterday about the program.
Tomorrow we will be hosting our first “Lunch With A Cop” at Northside Intermediate School in Mr. Sersch’s 5th Grade class. This programming is part of our partnership with the Milton Youth Coalition and their focus on the topic of Bullying in our community.
During the lunch an officer will have an open dialogue with students about the topic. The students will be requested to anonymously submit examples of Bullying that they are aware of, or have been a victim of, and those examples will be used to drive the conversation. There will also be a brief video shown to the students that has a very strong Anti-Bullying message and encourages students to stand up for others that are being bullied and report the behavior to a trusted adult. The students will then have a live demonstration on how to use the anonymous link to report Bullying that is on the City of Milton website. Finally, the students will be asked to elect a responsible class member to be the “go-to” person for issues involving Bullying. That student will be awarded a bright orange bracelet to signify their selection into that role.
We would like to thank Varsity Lanes for sponsoring this lunch by providing the class with pizza. Additional food, drink and supplies are being funded by the Norsthside Student Council and the Milton Police Department’s Crime Prevention Fund.

Update - STH 26 Bypass Project
Here is an update about the State Highway 26 Bypass Project.
Good afternoon,
It has only been four days since the last update, but at this time of year, construction operations start moving pretty fast. I hope the northbound commute is a little smoother now that we are back to the original mainline pavement without narrow tapers. As we talked about last time, we are starting the construction of the new frontage roads between John Paul Road and Woodcrest Drive. This stage will include the closure of John Paul Road at STH 26 during construction. The median cross over at John Paul will be closed permanently. This will take a little getting used to, but the end result will be much safer. The intersection of John Paul Road and STH 26 has been pretty hectic with all of the activity in the area. Travelers needing to get to John Paul Road or to M&I bank should continue northbound to McCormick Drive. Next, turn left at McCormick Drive and then left again to travel southbound to the M&I back entrance. As we talked about last time, all driveways on STH 26 will remain open during construction, with some minor inconveniences.
We appreciate your patience during construction. Please slow down and drive cautiously. We are getting closer to the end and the result will be an amazing transformation of the State Highway 26 corridor between Janesville and Milton. If you have any questions or need any clarifications on the upcoming changes, please feel free to contact the State Highway 26 project staff at our project field office.

Update - STH 26 Bypass Project
Here is an update on the State Highway 26 Bypass Project.
Good afternoon,
As you can all see, State Highway 26, between John Paul Road and Wright Road, is making excellent progress every day. The cleanup crews have finished in this area and we are ready to switch the northbound traffic back to the original mainline pavement. This switch will be the start of the final stage of construction in this area. Once the northbound traffic is back to its original lanes on Monday morning, crews will begin the initial construction of the new frontage roads, between John Paul Road and Woodcrest Drive. Work will begin on the east side of State Highway 26 and progress to the west side. Access will be maintained to businesses at all times, with some minor inconveniences. Please call our construction field office with any concerns you may have. (608)754-8217.
On the southern end of the project sod has been placed in the majority of the new median and the pedestrian bridge, just south of the M&I Bank, is starting to take shape. The new traffic signals at McCormick and the new median street lights will start to be erected in a few weeks.
To the north, the Harmony Town Hall interchange and the Townline Bridge over State Highway 26 are on schedule to open October 1st (weather dependent). We appreciate your patience as we strive to keep the construction site safe for workers and the traveling public. If you have any questions or need any clarifications on the upcoming changes, please feel free to contact the State Highway 26 project staff at our project field office.
