Press Release - Milton Youth Coalition Anti-Bullying Community Picnic

Below is a recent press release from Milton Police Lieutenant John Conger regarding the Milton Youth Coalition's Anti-Bullying Community Picnic that will be held tomorrow, Friday, September 7th.

Tomorrow evening at 6:00pm the Milton Youth Coalition will be hosting a community wide picnic at Northside Intermediate School. The picnic will be held to kick-off our Anti-Bullying campaign for the 2012-2013 school year.

The first 125 students that attend will receive a piece of pizza, a bag of chips, a bottle of water, and a cookie. At 6:30pm, Principal Sarah Stuckey will give a brief presentation on Bullying and its negative impacts.

The presentation will be followed up with a dance, some games, and a raffle for Anti-Bullying T-shirts, and Piggly Wiggly gift cards.

Additional Anti-Bullying programming includes our “Lunch With A Cop” program, in which an Officer from the City of Milton Police Department will have lunch with a classroom at Northside Intermediate School every couple of weeks to generate dialogue with the students on the topic. We will also have our Bully Patrol in place in neighborhoods that surround Northside and the Milton Middle School. This consists of high school students monitoring the area and watching for incidents of Bullying.

The Milton Youth Coalition has also purchased street signs that will be placed in the school zones that display our message, “Live The Milton Way, No Bullying, Safe In Our Schools, Safe In Our Community”.

And, as previously released, you can now anonymously report incidents of Bullying on the City of Milton Police Department website, which can be found at www.ci.milton.wi.us

We would like to thank Varsity Lanes, The Red Zone, Kwik Trip, Piggly Wiggly, and Paul Revere’s for helping us sponsor this event.
