Update on the Opening of the State Highway 26 Bypass
The State Highway 26 Bypass will be open on Friday morning, August 23, 2013.
After the bypass is open the northbound lane will be shifted to the outside or right lane beginning at Harmony Townhall Road. Northbound will be restricted to a single lane for about 3/4 of a mile until after Henke Road where there will be two lanes in the northbound direction to CTH N where it will again be restricted to a single lane and tie back into the existing roadway about a half mile north of CTH N.
The southbound lane will crossover to the northbound lane south of Townline Road and utilize the inside northbound lane to Henke Road where it will crossover to the new southbound lanes and be two lanes to CTH N. At CTH N it will cross back to the northbound lane and then tie back into the existing lanes about a 1/2 mile north of CTH N.
Both the newly constructed State Highway 59 and CTH N interchanges will be opened as well. Both northbound and southbound will be on the new bypass by approximately 10:00 a.m. After the opening of the bypass existing State Highway 26 will be closed from State Highway 59 east to Arthur Drive while that portion is reconstructed. That section is scheduled to be completed by October 1, 2013. The remaining portion of the southbound lanes near Townline Road will be completed and opened in late October.
