City of Milton Agendas - Week of July 14th

Meetings for the week of July 14th are scheduled as follows:

The Public Safety Committee meeting was cancelled due to lack of agenda items.

Fundraising for the Crossridge Park Playground

The Parks & Recreation Commission is in the process of fundraising for the Crossridge Park Playground project. The purpose of the project is to encourage healthy lifestyles fro community members by providing a large playspace for families to enjoy. High-quality playspaces encourage children to be active with their parents or grandparents and decreases the occurrence of childhood obesity. Playspaces also encourage creativity and imagination among children and assist in developing social skills, like working in groups and sharing.

Crossridge Park currently has a blacktopped walking trail that loops around the northern half of the park, 7 acres of natural prairie around the walking trail, a small playspace in the northeast corner of the park, and the new Parker YMCA and their athletic fields. Because the playground will be located near the Parker YMCA, the commission anticipates that it will be one of the more highly used playgrounds in the City. The park is also located along Parkview Drive, which has seen an increase in traffic by 130% since the State Highway 26 Bypass opened in the fall of 2013. The City hopes that this new playground will be a statement about the culture of Milton that places a high value on community, children, families, and play.

The design the Parks & Recreation Commission and Common Council approved will make this a destination playground with unique features, and the City needs community partners to help with funding to make this vision a reality. All donors will be listed on a donation recognition board in the following levels:

• Bronze Level ($100 - $999)
• Silver Level ($1,000 - $4,999)
• Gold Level ($5,000 - $9,999)
• Platinum Level ($10,000+)

At $5,000 or more, businesses or individuals may have the opportunity to sponsor a bench or a specific feature of the playground. Contact City Hall to see what is available.

City Hall Closed - July 2nd, 3rd, & 4th

City Hall will be closed July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in order to move to the new facility and in observation of the 4th of July. City Hall will reopen at the new location, 710 S. Janesville Street, at 8 a.m. on Monday July 7th.

City of Milton Announces First Day of Operations in New Police Department/City Hall/Municipal Court Building

Mayor Frazier and the City of Milton Common Council are pleased to announce the first day of operations at the City’s new Police Department/City Hall and Municipal Court building will be on July 7^th, 2014. 

 

The interior of the new facility is scheduled for final completion during the week of June 23-June 27^th.   The City’s public works department is coordinating the move of both the police department and city hall staff during the week of June 23-27, with final technology components scheduled for installation on July 1^st and 2^nd.  The inclement weather this week has delayed the pouring of the facility’s parking lot, which is now scheduled to take place on June 26-27^th.

 

City Hall offices, support services offices at the Police Department and Municipal Court Clerk office will be closed to the public on Thursday July 3^rd, 2014, and Friday, July 4^th, 2014. City staff in all Departments will be working during that time to ensure a safe and efficient move to the new building, as they move from their current buildings to the new facility. The Milton Police Department will continue to be operational throughout the move for all emergency and non-emergency responses.

 

City staff in all departments will continue serving the public to the very best of our ability during the move.  We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through this exciting transitional period in our City’s proud history. We look forward to welcoming the public to the new building on July 7^th, 2014.  An official open-house, including a public dedication and tour of the new facility will be scheduled for the first week in August.

 

Press Release: Milton Police Announces that Cory Broetzman has been Located/Deceased

The City of Milton Police Department was actively attempting to locate Cory W. Broetzman of Milton, Wisconsin, due to concerns regarding his personal safety. On Wednesday, June 11, 2014, Broetzman communicated that he intended to harm himself. Law enforcement was unable to locate Broetzman in the Milton, Wisconsin area. An attempt to locate a missing person – endangered, was sent to law enforcement authorities across the U.S. by the Milton Police Department in an attempt to find Broetzman.

On Sunday, June 15, 2014 in the morning hours, Broetzman was discovered deceased in a creek bed in Jefferson County, Colorado, of a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances of his death, however, they do not suspect foul play.

Milton Police Department Attempt to Locate Cory Broetzman

The City of Milton Police Department is actively attempting to locate Cory W. Broetzman of Milton, Wisconsin, due to concerns regarding his personal safety. On Wednesday, June 11, 2014, Broetzman communicated that he intended to harm himself. Law enforcement has been unable to locate Broetzman in the Milton, Wisconsin area. Broetzman’s possible last known location may be in the Altoona, Iowa area as of 7:37 a.m. on June 12th. If anybody locates the vehicle or Broetzman, you are encouraged to contact your local law enforcement agency. An attempt to locate a missing person – endangered, has been sent to law enforcement in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa and Missouri.

Broetzman is described as a 41 years old, white male, 5’10”, 280 pounds, short brown hair, blue eyes. He is believed to be driving a black, 2014 Dodge Avenger, 4-door, Wisconsin license plate 647HBM.
