The City of Milton will be hosting an informational meeting on September 29, 2011 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. for landlords and tenants about Ordinance #335 that adopted regulations from the Wisconsin State Statutes relating to rental housing.
On July 19, 2011, the Common Council passed Ordinance #335 that brought Wisconsin State Statute 704.07 into the Municipal Code of Ordinances. This section of the statutes relates to maintenance and standards for rental properties. Tenants can now make complaints about the condition of their rental unit to the municipality, rather than going through the Circuit Court System. This will make the process easier for those involved and provide more local control.
The informational meeting will cover the basics of the ordinance, the complaint process, and renting tips for landlords and tenants. Staff anticipates the meeting to be approximately one hour in length.
